It is said that friendships are the best form of relationships. Kyle Pecorino and Joan Sberna met while working at XS Nightclub in Las Vegas. Joan recalls that we met as friends at XS. We would hang out, travel together and do a lot of because we had mutual friends. When we worked together, we were always in relationships. We used to give each others advice.
They met at a friend’s wedding and things went romantic from there. Joan said that she told the bride to place me at a singles table for the wedding. “She instead, placed me next to Kyle at a table with couples. It was funny and I didn’t think much of it. Kyle promised to pick me up for his ‘date’ at the wedding, and we pretend that we were married all night. Then we pretend we were pregnant with our baby. She continues: “Something clicked at the wedding–we went beyond joking around to realizing that we were meant to be together.” Kyle revealed to Joan at Burning Man he was actually in love.
His proposal brought light and joy to a difficult time. Joan says that Kyle requested his blessing for marriage after my dad was diagnosed with cancer in. It was a very special moment that we shared together. Knowing that Kyle and my Dad would have a happy life together, my Dad went to heaven. Joan recalls that she thought they were going to a family dinner the night before her father died. My niece said to me that Kyle should see me on the rooftop deck of our house because there was something wrong with the furniture. As I was getting ready to go for dinner, I didn’t notice anything strange. I opened the door to the roof and saw the rose petals leading to the deck. I wore my dinner dress and house slippers as I walked up the stairs to see Kyle, who was handsome in his suit.
It ended up being a massive Surprise After I said yes, we had a party at our home. Dad was cremated the next day. They chose Twenty Mile House in Cromberg (California) as their wedding venue, escaping the lights of Las Vegas. The intimate event was filled with nature and a lot of love. You can read on for all the details. They were planned by Twenty Mile House director, Rachel Mann, and photographed by Peyton Byford.

After a three month COVID delay, the couple sent out forest green invitations with vintage stamps to 78 guests. The wedding was then finally underway. There was another factor that they couldn’t control on the weekend. Joan recalls that they were stressed about the fires nearby as they drove up to the wedding. “I believe that signs are everywhere and I always see two white butterflies to remind me that my Dad Honey and dog Honey, are with me, my angels.
I asked God for a sign and we saw thousands upon thousands of white butterflies on the road to Romberg as we drove. The next day was clear and sunny. Our dads knew we were in their presence and that our wedding was meant for them. Joan says that the palette was chosen to reflect the sunset in the forest. I loved the way they photograph so I mixed in satin with velvet. Green was my favorite color so I had Kyle wear green velvet and the groomsmen wear classic black.
