Sweet Spring Wedding with Geometric Details

The majority of brides choose a wedding dress to match the style of their wedding. This could be classic, bohemian, or retro.

When Abby, today’s bride, got married in May to her handsome groom Robbie, she chose her stunning Mara Hoffman bridal gown to set the mood for the rest of her day.

Geometric embellishments, coral shades, succulents, and an artsy, laid-back vibe were all part of the design. The unique wedding dress of Abby was the inspiration for all this. It’s pretty cool.

Robbie and Abby were married in the plantation house Legare Waring House, Charles Towne Landing. The incredible Paige Winn Photo captured this moment.

The garden was a casually chic setting for the outdoor ceremony. It was shaded by beautiful oak trees and steeped with history.

This wedding had a classic backdrop but was filled with modern touches, including craft homebrews, creative DIYs, and a casual style that catered to a cool cover band.

Abby & Robbie’s wedding was a beautiful example of how the linear and the lovely can be combined to create a perfect marriage.

The Inspiration

The dress I wore inspired me to use a soft coral/pink color scheme and geometric theme in the decor and attire of the event.

The wedding should have a bohemian, artsy vibe.

The Dresses & Flowers

The bridal line of Mara Hoffman was the source for my wedding dress. It was paired with Madison Harding shoes, Alexis Bittar earrings, and my Todd Reed engagement ring and wedding ring, as well as my grandmother’s art deco sapphire and diamond ring.

The bridesmaids wore Joanna August dresses in various styles, in pale pink, champagne, and peach. I also gave them multiple necklaces and earrings with a geometric theme. Their shoes ranged from nude to metallic.

I have a hard time remembering the names of flowers. I wanted lots and lots of greenery. No brightly colored flowers, just succulents.

The Ceremony

The beautiful oak trees that formed a canopy were the reason we chose this venue.

We chose the reading’Marriage’from The Prophet, by Kahlil Gibran

Our officiant (our friend) read the letters we wrote to each other.

Robbie surprised me as well – he found a note he had written to me soon after our meeting, and he read it out loud.

Favorite Moments

We laughed a lot at the laidback ceremony.

I would love to spend the night dancing and having fun with my friends and then be pulled on stage for the final song.

The Photographer

My wedding planner highly recommended Paige. Her website is beautifully designed and has many wedding photos to browse.

Because she had worked at other venues similar to mine and in the same area, I knew that she could capture the magic of the oaks and the spirit of the event.

Refreshments

On the “beer wall,” we had four beers, including one Robbie brewed specifically for me.

We had three food stations in a buffet style. It was informal, but the food was excellent.

Our wedding cake consisted of a delicious vanilla-flavored almond cake.

Decor & Details

I created a large backdrop for photos on canvas. I made a large “chalkboard” using a hollowed-out door and chalkboard painting, and instead of printing wedding programs, I wrote the details on it.

The table decorations I made are geometrical and small.

The pillowcases with geometric designs were purchased from Etsy and filled with pillows from my home.
