I experience a pinch-me moment every single day. But today is my most memorable”pinch me” moment.”
We’re starting this week with a bit of sunshine and with Lucie & Marcus’ beautiful wedding at a destination in Sicily.
The unscripted wedding video made by Fabrizio Soldano captures the love and love that surrounded the intimate day of their wedding.
I love the way they brought together the splendor of their palace-style ceremony with a fresco backdrop as well as the glitz of the bridal party’s fashion (Lucie’s vintage-inspired gown is stunning, and the sequin gowns for the bridesmaids make gorgeous dresses in the sun) and the laid-back mood of an evening cocktail party (the groom joined a number of the guests to take an ice bath) and the distinctly Italian look of a summer evening outdoor meal.
When you’re thinking of a wedding in a foreign location and are trying to keep your guests entertained while still maintaining a formal look and formality, let Lucie & Marcus show you how to do it…

From the Bride
While we were looking for a smaller event with an unpretentious vibe, we wanted to make sure that the ceremony was elegant and classic. We hope that we have achieved the right balance between traditional and contemporary!
When we tied the knot in Sicily, We contemplated for a while our “vision” for the perfect wedding day. We all had the same vision of having an unforgettable moment together, having a meal together with a nice warm sun in the early evening, gazing at our dearest family and friends.
We went backward from this point and knew it had to be overseas (and Sicily seemed the obvious option! ). We also learned that the space needed to be minimal, and we knew it required to be laid back.
In all honesty, we needed to ensure that the ceremony felt like a main ceremony – we wanted to be evident that we were not making promises that were not a priority!
Our venue for our wedding reception, located at Baglio Siciliamo, was the first (and the only) venue we visited. From the moment we arrived, the ambience inside the central courtyard had an electric vibe, which we felt made it the perfect venue for us. We could imagine the guests who would be spending the duration of a weekend and then making it their own.
There were three ceremony rooms within the closest town. Ours was on the highest first floor at Palazzo Nicolaci.
We found it to have the perfect balance between feeling very formal (with stunning frescos); however, it also had the awe of the Sicilian sun and views across Noto, the baroque city.
