Hawaiian weddings are colorful and stunning.

Today, we’re sharing Jackie and Tom’s amazing Hawaiian wedding with you.

It’s beautiful, unique, bright, and fun. We love the fact that Jackie, the bride, is on a crusade for color to be injected into wedding inspiration.

We bet that she will succeed with the amazing photos by Maui Maka Photography.

Tom and Jackie were married near Jackie’s house on The Garden Isle of Kauai. The day was full of color and Hawaiian traditions, with misty waterfalls and mountains, as well as lush greenery.

The couple made their wedding day as fun and romantic as possible by adding meaningful details. From the lei that adorned their necks to the song that was sung when Jackie walked down the aisle and her friends performing the hula, and even the shaved-ice refreshments, they added a lot of quirky and unique touches. Each detail was carefully planned and executed.

You’ll be inspired if you love the tropical trend or want to make your wedding a bit more colorful and fun. ).

The Setting

Many people have preconceived ideas about how a Hawaii wedding is supposed to look.

Hanalei is my hometown. I was born and grew up there. I met my husband Tom in New York, but visiting my home in Kauai helped us grow our relationship.

We wanted to make sure that our wedding captured the local vibe of Kauai.

With the help of my family and friends, I was able to make the day everything I had hoped for.

The Inspiration

When I first started planning my wedding, I was blown away by the number of neutral weddings that Pinterest and other sites offered me. So many blush. So much grey.

Kauai is the Garden Island, and these colors would not work. Our wedding was to be vibrant with color and ALOHA.

I found it difficult to capture the COLOR of our wedding. So, I’m sharing this with brides and grooms who love COLOR but are drowning in muted inspiration.

The Ceremony

Under an arbor of bougainvillea (my favorite flower! ), we were married. One of the elders performed a Hawaiian traditional ceremony with Hawaiian chanting and a salt ritual.

The wedding took place during El Nino. In the weeks before the big day, my Facebook page was filled with pictures of hurricanes circling the state.

Although it rained for the entire day (or even all week) as we prepared, Kauai is truly at its best when it rains.

As if by miracle, the clouds parted just as my closest friends zip-up my dress. Just in time for Tom and me to say “I do” in front of hundreds of waterfalls.
