We’re huge advocates of ‘less is more’ when it comes to your wedding makeup.
It’s a big deal to get married, so you should make it extra special. No look says “big night out” more than a seductive smokey eye.
Can it be used for your wedding? Yes, it certainly can!
You can achieve sultry, chic, smokey eye makeup on your wedding day, whether you are a makeup lover who is obsessed with mascara and shadow.
Here are some of the smokin’ tutorials that we have featured over time, in case you missed them:
Dos and Don’ts for Smokey Eyed Brides
Invest in quality products and brushes if you plan to do your makeup for your wedding.
Allow yourself enough time to do your makeup the day before your wedding. Do your eye makeup first, then your base makeup, because there will be shadows on your cheeks.
– Don’t forget your foundation. A great foundation is the key to stunning smokey eyes. The best way to achieve flawless and dewy skin is by using a dewy base.
Use an eye primer to ensure your shadow remains in place until the early hours.
– Blend again when you feel you have blended enough. Blending is the key to a stunning smokey eye. You shouldn’t be in a position to tell where you start and end.
Avoid too much black in your makeup for your wedding. Use pinks or neutrals to brighten the look.
Smokey eyes are usually paired with a bare lip. However, a bolder lip can also look fabulous. Keep it empty for ceremonies during the day and then go all out for evening events.
Smokey eyelids can make your eyes appear smaller. Brighten them with a highlighter in the inner corner of the eye and lots (and we do mean lots!) Use a lot of mascara.
Eyeliner determines how dramatic the look is. For more subtle eyes, choose brown crayon or kohl liner. You can then progress to black liquid or gel for a stronger look.

If you are getting professional makeup, it is important to do a test run before the big day. The smokey eye is a term used by many makeup artists. It can be anything from smudged grey or matte kohl to a full-on shimmer on dark black lids. Bring some pictures that you like to show the artist what you want.
