Making Your Gift Registry; The In-Store Experience

If you’re an avid user of Bridal Musings, then you’ll be aware that over the last couple of months, we’ve partnered together with The Wedding Shop to discuss all matters related to gift registry.

We’ve discussed our best practices and do’s for putting together your list of gift ideas, and we’ve discussed the reasons why furniture can be a unique wedding present. We’ve waxed poetic about honeymoon spending, and we’ve also shopped through the season’s top trending homewares.

Today’s post is more unique.

After having the pleasure of touring all of The Wedding Shop’s showrooms, I wanted to write a bit about the shopping experience they provide to help you plan the wedding registry.

Nowadays, we do nearly everything online, especially when you’re planning your wedding (hello, Google spreadsheets!). Although The Wedding Shop has an awesome website featuring their complete collection that you can browse online, something is thrilling about taking the time to create your wedding wishlist of gifts by an experienced.

The individual showrooms at The Wedding Shop showrooms have their own style and look.

Fulham Road is a chic high-street shop; the Dublin showroom is a complete house with a kitchen, bedroom, living area, and dining room that’s decorated in possible wedding-related gifts. The Oxford Street showroom in Selfridge’s is a luxurious retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the shop.

It’s still my goal to visit the Wedding Shop in Edinburgh. However, considering it’s the most recent showroom, I’m sure it’s just as enticing as the other showrooms.

The Wedding Shop’s highly-trained consultants are extremely friendly – and knowledgeable.

Carmel,  whom I met during my visit to the Dublin shop – who was gracious enough to take part in aaQ&A on Our Instagram Stories, has been working in gift lists for a long time. She is familiar with every brand, every dining set, and each glassware collection from top to bottom – quite amazing!

The best part about making an appointment at the store is that you are able to talk to an advisor to discuss your style, the way you live your life, and what you’d like from your registry, even if the registry is more experience-based rather than homeware-oriented.

What I found the most useful in the showrooms is that the staff members can teach you how to combine and mix different pieces in ways you might have never thought of. This means you can design the perfect dining set for your specific needs or make an idea of what you want from your kitchen based on the particular needs of your family.

When I visited the Dublin store, I was enthralled by certain table settings that were comprised of three distinct collections. This not just helped them be more budget-friendly but also more fashionable and adaptable as well. This is the kind of mix you’re not likely to come up with while putting together your registry while sitting on your couch.

It was pleasant to sense the luxury bedding and heavy wine glasses in person!
