Ten Ways to Make Your Wedding Ceremony Unique

The most important moment on your wedding day is your sign ceremony.

While planning a wedding ceremony can be a special experience for many couples, it can also prove daunting. Beautiful wedding ceremonies should reflect your unique relationship and personality. It doesn’t need to be boring or traditional. You are welcome to let go of the rules and work with your celebrant in creating something truly unique.

We’ve put together ten ideas to make your wedding ceremony memorable.

Take a walk down the aisle with your partner.

You don’t have to be alone if you feel jittery or want to challenge tradition. Any rules do not govern this choice. It can also be symbolic as it symbolizes unity and confidence. Don’t be restricted in who you walk the aisle.

You can opt out of readings for your wedding and instead choose to hear the advice or words of your loved ones.

Wedding readings and poetry are lovely, especially if they mean something to you. However, you can mix it up and include your closest and dearest in other ways. You can ask your guests to send their wishes and hopes for your marriage to your officiant or celebrant. If you cannot be there, ask your guests for their thoughts and suggestions.

Present your wedding party.

Although many people may be familiar with your wedding party, they will not all know you. Ask your officiant or celebrant to introduce each guest and share some information about you. This is a great way to get your A-team involved, and it also serves as a warm-up for what’s to come.

Get your wedding party seated.

Your wedding party should stand in front of you. However, it can sometimes block their view of the ceremony and cause them to take too many photos, especially if you have a small space. Ask your wedding party to take a seat at the start of the ceremony. This will allow them to relax and enjoy the proceedings while you keep the attention on you.

Personal wedding vows.

This is what everyone looks forward to. Hearing heartfelt vows from you and your partner and then sharing your love and promises to each other. You are free to be creative with your wedding vows if you have trouble deciding where to begin.

Vow play.

Bring a little light-hearted banter into the ceremony and consider letting your celebrant conduct a ‘paper-scissors-rock’-off to select which of you will deliver your vows first. You have other options: play a short quiz with the winner choosing the order of proceedings or ninja vows, where the married parties each write some top-secret promises that the other party will keep.

Witness raffle.

Participation by the audience? This is a great idea. You can give out raffle tickets to guests. Then, randomly select the two winners to sign marriage certificates. You can also choose your vows beforehand but not reveal who until the moment so that they are pleasantly surprised.

After the ceremony, sign.

While the signing is a beautiful and touching part of the ceremony for many couples, it can also be a time when guests are not invited. You can wrap up the ceremony and then go with your celebrant or witnesses to make it more comfortable. This will allow guests to move on to the next step.

Start with a toast.

A toast is a great way to get the party started. When you sign your paperwork, ask someone to pass around small glasses of bubbly to your guests. Then ask your officiant (or a guest) to toast you. You can also end the ceremony by having a champagne tower.

Exit strategy.

Now that you have exchanged vows, signed all paperwork and sealed the ceremony with a kiss, it is time to leave your ceremony memorably. You can do something different if you’re looking to make your exit memorable. While most couples walk down the aisle to a song and then go to their guests to say congratulations, it’s not unusual for them to dance to the music. You can lead your guests down the aisle with a Mariachi or marching band.
