ABIA Weddings met with Brisbane’s G&M Event Group and discussed the importance of professional Lighting for any event or wedding. Although many people don’t consider event lighting when planning their weddings, we have noticed that it has become more popular among couples who want to create a unique atmosphere at their reception.

Continue reading to learn the critical points about professional Lighting for a wedding.

Why is event lighting important at a wedding?

We use event lighting in three main ways to create genuinely exceptional weddings.

Ambience- Lighting is a critical factor in setting the mood for your event. It is easy to see the impact lighting can have on guests’ feelings about your event. You can make every moment memorable by using lights that allow you to control the atmosphere at different nighttime times.

Directing attention- Our eyes naturally gravitate to brighter areas in dimly lit rooms. Spotlights in theatre are used to direct your attention. We can use Lighting at your event to highlight special moments or essential decorations. You have many options, but the true magic is when lights and music are combined to create an entire sensory experience for your guests.

Party Time! – If you’re worried about the atmosphere on the dance floor at your party, it is worth taking the time to think about the Lighting. People feel uncomfortable dancing in bright, unattractive Lighting. You can create an energetic environment on the dance floor using color, movement, and contrast. Your guests will be grateful for this and enjoy dancing late into the night.

What’s Uplighting?

The battery-powered uplights can completely transform the room’s color and feel. You can set them to any color, from the classic and elegant Warm White to an outrageously OTT Hot Pink.

Uplights may be the right solution if your venue’s standard Lighting makes you feel uninspired.

What’s Spot Lighting?

Spot Lighting refers to using specially placed, battery-powered mini-spotlights that highlight essential aspects of your wedding. Wedding Cakes, Centrepieces, Wishing Wells, and any other details you want your guests to be particularly attentive to.

Spotlighting will allow you to make the most of expensive focal points at your wedding. It will bring them out of darkness and place them front and center for your guests.

Which type of Lighting is best for weddings?

There is no right or wrong way to light your wedding. Each wedding is unique, but we can offer guidance from our lighting design team.

Warmer Lighting is more romantic and flattering. Avoid cool white or fluorescent lighting fixtures. Instead, use warm and candle-lit light. We can bring custom lighting to solve the problem if your venue has only fluorescent or cold-white Lighting.

Make your Lighting a little brighter for dinner. People like to be able to see their food as they eat. After the formalities have been completed, it is time to get guests to start dancing.

To give your guests an extra energy boost, ensure someone is ready to turn off the lights when you start the first song. This will signal to them that it’s time to dance.

Use a spotlight to ensure that your guests pay attention to your MC. Your MC will have more authority if you are in a well-lit position. Your guests will be more attentive and quiet.

Be creative. There are many ways to go about it. Talk to the G&M Event Group team to learn more about lighting design and how it can be used to elevate your wedding.
