Real Bride Diary: I’m Hair Accessory Obsessed!

I love bridal headpieces. Starry hairpins, floral crowns, architecture combs, gem jewels, I’m in love. The choice of a single, distinctive piece for my wedding dress is turning out to be a lot more challenging than shopping for a wedding dress ever was. Do I cling to my most popular celestial style? Do I tell everyone that I am actually The Princess of North Sixth Street?

My most trusted acquaintance (you remember, that wedding stylist who’s been looking at your horoscope?) and my mother have been a bit in a frenzy of “this one or that? !” over the last couple of months, so I’ve been bringing this to my lovely readers to make a Clare Eliza Real Bride Diary request to help me select one!

For clarification, I don’t have ears with piercings, and I wear only minimal accessories (my two solitaire rings as well as the occasional Bangle in white gold). I’ve always believed that wearing a veil wasn’t my style. As a minimalist, I’ve worn it with almost all my bridal attire (remember my bridal icon, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy?). This means my bridal hairpiece will certainly stand out.

Clockwise, starting at the top left, The Hair Style Inspiration of Tonya Stylist through Festival Brides and Hair Comb By Luna Bee Celestial Coronet from Jennifer Behr, Vega Bobby Pins by Jennifer Behr, Nova Bandeaux by Jennifer Behr, Callisto Moon Hair Pins by Tilly Thomas Lux.

I’m convinced that the most recent celestial bridal fashion was actually invented to suit me. Most of the time, I stay away from whatever the latest fashion is, worried that they’ll fade out of style too soon; however, I’m excited over the amount of stardust that is that is splattered across the bridal industry at the moment.

Luna Bea’s dazzling hair-comb is more of an artwork than a fashion accessory, fitting to the “LA fashion girl” look I’ve been admiring lately.

And that hairstyle of Tonya Stylist? It’s probably my favorite edgy bun ever. It’s just right when paired with Tilly Thomas Lux’s dramatic stars and moon pins, not?

Modern, Fashion-Forward Headpieces

I’m loving modern, trendy headpieces in contrast to traditional romantic pins from the past. Lelet NY wowed us at Bridal Fashion Week this year – showcasing her talents as an architect with her powerful lines and striking metals. Her French ruffles are simply stunning.

Clockwise, starting at the top left, Desert Tiara by Untamed Petals, Chantilly Tiara by Tania Maras, Agustina De Aragon from Mimaki by Laure de Sagazan, Dried flower tiaras inspired by Hello May Magazine via Festival Brides, Couronne Temperance by Lizeron via Laure de Sagazan.

If I want to have that whole “cool bride” vibe, it does not mean I don’t wish to remind everybody that I am a princess. (There can be a Queen of Cool!) Tania Maras has got the whole “royal” look mastered with her Chantilly Tiara, whereas Lizeron is totally avant-garde in the porcelain Temperance Crown.

My whole life, I’ve had a love for dried flower crowns. (remember the scene in My Big Fat Greek Wedding where Yaya takes out her bridal crown? I really love the location!) I’ve been pondering lately whether I should skip the major purchase and make an heirloom-quality, dried Tiara by myself. I’m not alone!!
