We all have a preconceived idea of how a wedding should look. The white dress, the bridesmaids in crisp linens, and the centerpieces.
It’s funny because, as a wedding blogger and a dedicated searcher of weddings with a unique twist, I still look for these things: the centerpieces and table plans and the escort card, just like today’s actual wedding.
There are none. Sandy and Chris are cooler than I am. And their wedding in downtown LA was about leaving the fuss behind and celebrating with a big party.
The photo booth and the catering truck are all amazing.
We thought it would be better to leave the details in the hands of someone who has been there.
Before you scroll to hear the wedding couple themselves and see the photos, let’s turn it over to the woman who took them all: Alexandra Wallace…
The Photographer
I immediately fell in love with Sandy’s wedding venue when she emailed photos to me.
A warehouse with perfectly white-washed walls. The HNYPT creative studio is located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. It serves as a wedding venue alternative and a blank canvas.
Chris and Sandy added a lot of personal touches to their wedding. They created beautiful fern installations and unique seating lounges using Circa vintage rentals.
Chris, his best friend Jon, and their preparations for the wedding day took place at the ACE Hotel. We followed them to the rooftop swimming pool and the elevators to take some groomsman pictures.
Sandy and her girlfriends got ready in an incredibly stylish apartment. They set the standard for cool girl-gang photos.
Sandy made her wedding gown! This is a unique piece of art. She bought her bouquet and flower crown from a street vendor downtown and made sure that Pony, an emotional gift, was also included in the final look.
Following a sweet ceremony, guests chose dinner options from the award-winning Los Loobos Truck. This truck is known for Food Truck Wars on the Food Network.
Our Love Story
This is your typical story of love; we met in a college bar.
What three words would you use to describe your wedding? Modern, fun, and classic.
Our Wedding
No color or theme was used. If I were to describe it, I would say it was modern but with a twist of classic flair.
We prioritized the venue, alcohol, and food. We wanted to have a good time and not a boring wedding.
The Ceremony
When I was a kid, I loved My Little Pony. My dad carried the toy My Little Pony as he led me down the aisle.
Matt, our friend, played the guitar and sang as I walked up to the altar.
