Are you ready to be transported to the Parisian fairytale wedding? Wedding Devon & Groom Chris flew to France to toast their wedding vows uniquely, and we’re completely enthralled.
Photo taken by Claire Morris, this destination wedding has all the elements of an ideal fairytale wedding. Elegant and romantic stationery, a grand ballroom, and the Cinderella princess gown. The elopement here is not your typical wedding that is away.
What was the outcome of the day? The stylish couple took advantage of their fantastic suite and backdrops to shoot photos at the stunning Shangri-La hotel. The couple then went away to get married with their photographers and celebrant amid the famous Eiffel Tower.
One thing I enjoy about Devon’s suggestions to others is to avail the help of locals. Nothing makes you feel that you have genuinely experienced and wanted a place like engaging with the locals. Based on my own experiences (and Devon’s, too!) Parisians are pretty friendly, cheerful, and always speaking English (contrary to what I was told by people who had warned me about years ago).
Our Love Story
Chris and I met when we were meeting in the parking lot! I had my puppy in my purse, and Chris is an avid dog lover. He offered to take my dog to the vet. We talked for hours, which seemed like minutes. We decided to swap numbers, and the rest was the story. It’s proof that the universe works in mysterious ways and someone extraordinary appears in your life when you don’t think about it. We have my puppy, but he’s now six years old, and we’ve got another child in the family! He’s a mini Australian Shepherd and loves his big brother. Did I mention we have two cats?
On the anniversary of our second year, Chris and I went to Nashville to place the “love lock” on the pedestrian bridge. After wishing on the lock’s key, I tossed the key into the river, after which I reverted to Chris sitting on one knee, proposing! It’s safe to say that my wish was fulfilled! It only made sense that we held our ceremony on the streets of Paris, where “love locks” or the “love lock” tradition originated.
The Destination
We decided to plan a wedding elopement in Paris as we enjoyed traveling worldwide and wanted to to create something unique for our wedding day. We only eloped, two of us, and then had our reception at home with friends and family. We had always wanted to do the idea of eloping in Paris since it was our desire for it to feel intimate and concentrate on us while remaining free of stress.
On our wedding day, we awoke and walked through the Luxembourg Garden. It was so peaceful, and it felt like pure joy. After the walk, we checked into our hotel at Shangri-La. We picked the Shangri-La because of its beautiful architectural style and the rich, long history of this hotel. The Shangri-La was built at the time of Prince Roland Bonaparte, who was the great-grandson of the Emperor. The entire experience was excellent, emotional, and captivating.
Favorite Moments
We had a blast being with Claire as well as Selina. We believed that they were friends for a long time even though we only had a meeting. The day was flawless, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled about our day of the wedding in Paris and our pictures! There was no dull moment, from discussing Harry Potter, laughing and laughing while taking selfies with friends, and having champagne to end the evening.
Advice to Other Couples
Planning an elopement abroad in a foreign country can be difficult, but it’s worthwhile! I would highly recommend getting an event planner (we did not, but in hindsight, it’s 20/20), and don’t be afraid of asking locals for assistance! We got help from locals with the subway system and even translated our breakfast wishes to our server. The locals were extremely welcoming and were willing to assist us before having the opportunity to request help. Don’t get caught up in the process of learning French before your travels. The majority of the locals speak fluently in English.
