In the process of planning or already celebrating your wedding day, The majority of couples could write down the various unanticipated tensions that can arise prior to the wedding day. Imagine this: you attend flag football training (please join me!), and you break your ankle just two weeks prior to your wedding. Yikes!

The real bride today did not take it too seriously and is beaming with joy on her crutches and sporting a beautiful cast. And speaking of silver linings, the final errands like the bank, craft shops, cafes, etc. She was happy to take them all off in her recovery!

In addition to Anklegate 2016’s wedding, the event includes a myriad of other distinctive features like bright geometric wooden sculptures, wild and striking floral arrangements, and fruit-filled coconut bowls to serve dessert. Watch all the action in their fun film that comes at the conclusion.

Our Wedding Story

When I think of my wedding day, my heart is aching to be taken back to that date in December. It was an amazing blend of a day with everything I love the most, including family, friends, bohemian rugs, funky designs, disco balls neo, colors, pinatas, dancing, and now my husband.

The Style

As a wedding coordinator, I’ve attended many weddings. Some of them I drew inspiration from and learned from what I wouldn’t want to do. Since the very beginning, I knew I wanted a clear white space to serve as the base for our neon-painted designs.

The style we chose to use can be described as light, simple, and modern, with hints of bohemian and lots of pops and fun. The colors we chose for our wedding were dark blue-green neon cream, ivory, and orange and were complemented by metallics.

We thought about the possibility of having a wedding outside; however, since it did not work the way we planned, our tables were adorned with a variety of tropical foliage that contrasted well with the complimentary neon orange pops from our menus and in the runners for our tables. Instead of traditional bouquets, we chose to go for King Protea flowers for the desert, which tied everything together quite nicely.

Anklegate 2016

Three weeks before my wedding day, I sprained my ankle while playing flag football. I’ve been playing in an all-girls team with my church for a number of years, and I didn’t think much of it when I got ready for practice on the morning of my wedding. The break was so bad that I needed surgery one week later and a couple of weeks prior to the wedding. The months leading up to the wedding were full of lots of complicated emotions and stress and stress, but also lots of calm.

I didn’t realize that the impulsive decision to go to practice football would become one of the most gratifying benefits. There were plenty of tiny, last-minute issues to handle: picking the contents of the bathroom amenity bag and grabbing Blue Bottle Coffee, going to the bank to get last-minute cash, arranging details for rehearsals, etc. Because I injured my ankle, I was unable to perform any task physically.

My wedding guests went into full-on action and extended not just their time but also their shoulders to rest on literally. We might not have made it through #anklegate2016! Because of #anklegate2016, my wedding party decided to give me a fun set of patches that I could flaunt out my ensemble!

The Food

Another thing I continue to hear about our wedding is how fantastic our food and drinks were! “The Lime Truck was an exquisite fusion of Asian flavors that was a perfect blend of Asian flavors New American cuisine, which was perfect for the fusion of our two families beautifully.

We decided to skip the traditional cake cutting and instead include an Ice Cream scooping courtesy of Neveux Artisan Creamery, along with an Acai bowl made by Amazebowls as a late-night snack.

Special Moments

One of my most memorable moments during the wedding was receiving my wedding present from Jason. He wrapped it in vibrant and green Spiderman wrapping paper. It was the exact wrapping paper that I gave him back in 2009.
