How better to start this new year than to do it with a modern and fresh marriage in London?
Jennie Mike and Jennie Mike are a fantastic young couple: graphic designers looking for a trendy event space located in the heart of city life, geometrically-loving photographers, and a celebration that is devoid of the past and speaks of their individuality as an individual couple.
After a bit of difficult planning, searching, and creating their wedding, they totally achieved it. By creating their paper products and locating all the vendors that match their modern aesthetic, This London wedding was hip and trendy. The couple’s best friends made the perfect ceremony for the couple, laughing up the crowd before performing a song (we’re in awe of not having a ticket!)
Our Love Story
The day we got together was our first day at the university. Mike had bleach-blonde hair and a pair of diamond earrings (both ears). Jennie was wearing a baggy pair of jeans, a vest, and neon trainers. She had long, curly hair, plenty of black eyeliner, nails, etc. It’s not a surprise that our looks were different.
After graduation, we relocated to London and shared a home with a friend. We slowly became close and, eventually, followed an all-night party at one of the eastern warehouses in London warehouse, after which we shared a drunken kiss that we never forgot!
After five years of marriage, Mike asked Jennie to marry him at the summit of a mountain over Illilouette Falls in Yosemite National Park, California (Jennie’s favorite location). The rest, according to the legend, is history!
The Dress & Attire
Becoming a bit picky about the appearance of her dress, Jennie visited many dress boutiques and tried different styles. She finally chose the Provonias Onesi dress from the Wedding Dress store in Wimbledon. A friend suggested The Wedding Dress Shop, and they were accommodating throughout the entire process. Jennie was impressed with how her dress fit on the day of her wedding and exactly matched what she imagined herself in from the moment she found out that she was engaged.
A dress that was appropriate for the most significant day in his life, Mike required something elegant that was timeless and sharp. He went across Manchester before being recommended by Hugo Boss. He was wearing navy blue in the back of his mind, and when He tried the winning suit and saw the case, he knew it was the dress he wanted to be married in.
The Venue & Ceremony
We were having a hard time finding a suitable location. As graphic designers, we are extremely picky, and we are aware of what we like (and dislike). After months of research, we realized that there are a number of restaurants and bars in London that can be hired out for wedding receptions on weekends because they’re usually closed or extremely quiet. We ultimately chose the Drift for the location for our reception as it was just the right size, was decorated according to our tastes, and was located in a great place to host our guests.
Then, we were faced with the challenge of finding a place to hold our wedding. After a long, stressful day, we finally found the Andaz Hotel had an ideal venue to get married. We found the idea of getting a wedding in a hotel practical. All your guests are able to stay in the hotel, and you don’t have to worry about getting from point A to point B
None of us are religious, and despite the fact that marriage is an extremely serious decision, we wanted to make sure the ceremony itself was relaxed and casual. We chose two of our acquaintances who we were sure wouldn’t give traditional readings. Her best friend Rachael has written us an original poem that was filled with jokes, gags, swear words, as well as nice words and tips. Mike’s friend Tommy was inspired to read the lyrics of the entire Seal song “Kiss From A Rose.” Beautiful lyrics. The odd accent, paired with straight, deadpan expressions, meant the performance was a huge hit and had the audience laughing.
