Gorgeous Destination Wedding in Bali

We hope you guys have been having a fabulous long weekend so far.

And to make it even brighter, we’ve got the most gorgeous wedding to share today.

Jade & Mitch are an Aussie couple who love to travel, so it was a no-brainer that their wedding would be a destination one.

And when the only two things on your wishlist are heat and the ocean, a beachside setting in Bali was the perfect choice.

Their wedding was an elegant garden celebration with white blooms, lots of greenery, thoughtful DIY touches, and one of the most magical overhead light installations we’ve seen in a long time.

Jade was stunning in a custom-made gown, Mitch looked smart by the sea in a bright blue suit, and the bridesmaids did oceanside glamour perfectly with rose gold crop top dresses.

But alongside the incredible setting, the creative decor, and the gorgeous style, my favorite detail about this wedding has to be this beaming couple, who didn’t let the smiles leave their faces from the beginning of the day ’til the end of the night.

And we love that they chose the awesome Terralogical Photography to capture all the candid vibes, romantic moments, and big laughs.

You guys are going to love this wedding!

Our Love Story

We met through a mutual friend at a music festival in February 2011. It was only by pure luck that I was convinced to come and purchase a ticket the day before the show.

Mitch was flying to Sydney to visit this friend, and we all went in together. We quickly discovered our love for travel; that was my first attraction to him. Before we even officially got together, we started planning a three-month around-the-world holiday. I thank my lucky stars that I purchased that ticket.

The proposal was the biggest surprise of my life. I am usually switched on with these things.

A brief on us. Mitch is originally from the Sunshine Coast, and I am from Sydney. We fly between our two families throughout the year, so when we flew up to the Sunshine Coast for a quick visit, there was nothing that stood out.

February 20, 2014, Mitch asked me if I would like to get up early to go whale watching, and then he would go for a surf at Noosa Head. Silly me did not second guess that it actually wasn’t whale season.

He loves the beach and surfing so much that it was nothing new that it was so early; I knew the waves are always the best at that hour. We walked up to the peak, watching the sunrise. It must have been the longest 10 minutes of Mitch’s life as I semi-joked about the lack of whales.

There were surfers below catching waves and paddling around. It was all synced up because at 6:45  a.m. Mitch dropped to his knees while the boys below flipped their surfboards to reveal, “Jade will u marry me?”

Our Wedding

When deciding on a location for our wedding, Mitch and I asked each other, “What is your number one thing for the big day?”

Mitch answered, “To be starring out at the ocean”; mine was “to be tropical warm.”

Being an avid traveler, I decided to go overseas easily; to make it even easier for all involved, Bali seemed like the perfect choice for a wedding. The dream was to be walking on the sand at sunset as Mr and Mrs.

I really tried to incorporate both our personalities in the decoration; I wanted it to reflect him as much as me. Doing this made Mitch really excited about every aspect of the wedding, down to the invites and the wedding favors.

We were going with a natural decor. Green and white flowers, bare wooden tables, gold Tiffany chairs, and industrial lights create ambient light.

The wedding was so beautiful it didn’t need much at all.

The Attire

I was fortunate enough to have a wonderful dressmaker named Rosa, based in Kogarah, Sydney, make my wedding dress.

She knows fabric like an extension of her arm. I went to her with a series of ideas and images, all with lace beautifully cut out and fitted to the body.

Rosa was able to explain to me how my design would sit and what fabrics I had to use to make it work. I also had this beautiful detachable train with feathers sewn on the base.

The dress was the foundation of inspiration I had in my wedding decor.

My flower girl dress was purchased from a dressmaker on Etsy; I loved the way it tied together at the back. I loved that about the clothing from day one.
